what's cookin' good lookin'?

My friend Essa and I are known to have a good cook off. We generally do a savoury and a sweet, the full meal deal! Today we had our first attempt at a Layered Chocolate Marquise, a traditional French chocolate mousse alternating with a light chocolate sponge.
More excitedly for us, we once again made our famous Roast Veg and Haloumi Burgers. Usually we make a mild peri-peri mayonnaise, but decided to spice it up this time and made a Harissa Mayonnaise from scratch. Oh yeah!
Mixed Veg & Haloumi Burger! grilled haloumi on a bakery fresh bread roll with caramelised red onion, roasted tomato, grilled eggplant, fresh rocket and peri-peri mayonnaise.

WHAT TO EXPECT...


WHAT DOES THE NIGHT ENTAIL?
Upon arrival you will receive a complimentary cocktail. After enjoying the cheese board and mingling with the other guests, you will be seating for the meal. We don't rush through the courses as the table is yours for the whole evening (unlike in a traditional restaurant). The structure of the meal will often change; sometimes tapas style, sometimes a three course meal with bread and salad. Whatever the structure you will always leave satisfied! Each meal will end with tea and/or coffee. But don't fret, there is no need to rush off until you're ready!

EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT: BRUNCH



Edible flowers are often overlooked as ingredients in the modern kitchen. In times gone by, these little beauties were embraced and we think it's time for a floral revival!

Upon arrival you will receive a glass of champagne. A full brunch spread of sweet and savoury will adorn the table, hot dishes will be served through out the meal. Tea will be plentiful and the meal will end with sponge cake and coffee. Don't fret, there is no need to rush off until you're ready!

a fingerfood feast!

it was my birthday last week. as usual i cooked up a storm. this year however i seemed to have brought some extremely heavy rain along with my kitchen storm that, i must admit, i thoroughly enjoyed. i can't remember the last time it rained on my birthday and oh boy do i love the rain.
another love of mine, menu planning! after much contemplation, i decided on just fingerfood because really, what is better than cheese for dinner?!

so here is the menu... IN PICTURES!
baked haloumi with sour dough, bacon and roast tomatoes.

mini beetroot tarte tatins.


choux pastries with beef and wasabi cream.

tzatziki and homemade lavoche.
